Slowing down to travel

Any type of travel or holiday costs us in time and money. Some experiences can take you a lot further than others. As a self described ‘travel junkie’ who has travelled abroad many times, I’m the first to confess that my itchy feet takes me off to many places, yet slowing down to travel has been one of my favourite ways to enjoy time away with the family in recent years.
Portland Botanic Gardens

Portland Botanic Gardens, which was born in the late 1800's, boasts a stone gardeners cottage, sprawling dahlia display, clipped croquet lawn and greenhouse sitting between glorious border beds and historic trees. Then there's also the historic tram and tram stop that leaves right outside the gate.

St Brigid’s round tower in Kildare is not only climbable, but it is also the second tallest one ever built, measuring 33 metres (108 feet) tall. It was originally constructed in the 6th century, with a renovation occurring in the 12th century, it is made out of Wicklow granite.

Heywood Gardens is situated near the towns of Abbeyleix and Ballinakill in Ireland's centre, and is a garden that began its life in the 1700's with additional planning and design completed in 1912, Both the parkland and meditarean style garden compliment each other greatly and is worth more than just a quick peek for visitors.
